Chillicothe rolls past McClain behind Ligon’s five-touchdown performance

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio Oct. 18, 2025 — Sophomore running back Cartae Ligon scored five touchdowns

to lead Chillicothe to a 36-14 win over McClain on Friday night.

McClain struck first when freshman Holden Lyons returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown just 20 seconds into the game. Chillicothe answered immediately as Ligon broke free for a 60-yard touchdown run on the Cavaliers’ first offensive play.

From there, Chillicothe’s ground game took control. Ligon added four more rushing touchdowns as the Cavaliers built a commanding lead.

McClain showed flashes on defense, recovering an onside kick and forcing turnovers, but struggled to slow Ligon and the Chillicothe rushing attack.

“We played with a lot of grit,” McClain head coach Brian Collier said. “We’re making progress, but we’re not where we want to be yet.”

Chillicothe improved its record to 6-3 overall, while McClain fell to 2-7.
