Some changes are coming to the Chillicothe City School District for the 2026-2027 school year. Most notably, bands of students in the various school buildings will be adjusted. According to superintendent Deborah Swinehart, preschoolers will move from Mt. Logan to CPS, 3rd graders will move from CPS to CIS, and 6th graders will move from CIS to CMS. Chillicothe senior Cannan Smith has surpassed the milestone of 100 career pins on the wrestling mat. Smith is also the only senior wrestler in Ohio with single-digit losses on his record. Smith is ranked No. 1 in Division II and recently placed first at the Steve Yinger Memorial Tournament in Nelsonville-York. He holds a career record of 162-9. Smith and the Chillicothe Cavaliers will travel to McClain High School to compete at 8 p.m. Jan. 8.
