Chillicothe Softball Defeats Lady Bearcats

The Lady Cavaliers softball team defeated Paint Valley 16-7 on Friday. According to Coach Andrea Morgan, Bella Riffe drove in seven runs on two hits to lead the Cavalier offense: she drove in runs on a fielder's choice in the first, a grand slam in the second, and a home run in the sixth.

Chillicothe grabbed an early lead in the first two innings after scoring on a single by Julie Lemaster, a fielder's choice by Riffe, an error, and a single by Caroline Corcoran in the first inning, and then Riffe's grand slam in the second inning. Riffe was credited with the win. She allowed eight hits and five runs over three innings, walking zero.


Emma Fromm and Madison Harrod entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Chillicothe combined for 18 hits from Emma Fromm, Mikayla Spaulding, Bella Riffe, Caroline Corcoran, Maddy Gilbert, Julie Lemaster, and Bayla Tucker. Spaulding and Fromm had three hits each.
