Cavs Wrestling Program heads to D2 Sectional Tournament

The Chillicothe High School Boys' Wrestling program will compete in the OHSAA's Southeast Division 2 Sectional Tournament at Gallia Academy High School, Saturday.

There will be two sectionals, which the first group including: Athens, Gallia Academy, Hillsboro, Jackson, Logan Elm, Marietta, Sheridan, Vinton County, and Warren. The second group will include: Chillicothe, Circleville, Fairfield Union, McClain, Miami Trace, New Lexington, Unioto, Washington CH, Waverly, and Westfall.


Representing the Chillicothe Cavaliers will be freshman Brandon Chapman in the 106-lb weight class, sophomore Logan Arms in the 126-lb weight class, junior Cannan Smith in the 132-lb weight class, junior Michael Bateman in the 138-lb weight class, freshman Noah Bowling in the 144-lb weight class, freshman Colton Manring in the 150-lb weight class, senior Jeremyah Teurman in the 175-lb weight class, senior Zach Janes in the 190-lb weight class, freshman Cade Griffie in the 215-lb weight class, and sophomore Connor Rutherford in the 285-lb weight class.


Smith is a 1-seed for tomorrow's tournament. He placed third in the state in his freshman and sophomore years.


The competition begins at 9:30 a.m. with admission $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets or via cash at the door.
