Assistance Available for CHS Prom-Goers

Updated: Mar 7

Chillicothe High School's Project Glam is open for the prom season!

Project Glam is an in-school pop-up shop that allows students to borrow formal wear, shoes, and jewelry, and it isn't just dresses.

"We have suits, pants, dress shirts, ties, suspenders, and belts," said Tabitha Muse, McKinney-Vento Coordinator for the Chillicothe City School District.

According to Muse, Chillicothe High School students who intend on going to prom may schedule a time to privately "shop" at Project Glam. The form was emailed to students and posted to their grade-level Google Classroom.

The Project Glam items are available for the students' use -- at no cost to them. Muse said that once the dresses and suits are returned, they are dry-cleaned courtesy of the Cavalier Closet. Members of the CHS Girls Volleyball program also assist in organizing and maintaining Project Glam.

Project Glam served approximately 60 students in the previous school year, and it's a mission that Muse is passionate about.

"I like to see the kiddos not to be concerned or not to have the extra worry of having to purchase those items if they want to go (to prom)," Muse said. "I like that I can provide access to those who maybe wouldn't have access otherwise."

Muse said that the formal wear donations often come from former students and their parents, and Project Glam has a specific need at this time: "We are running low on men's dress shoes; I think we only have one pair right now, so we are still looking for things like that."

Anyone interested in donating to Project Glam may do so by stopping by the Chillicothe High School Main Office or contacting Muse at tabitha.muse@ccsd.us.
