Writer: Athena PittsAthena Pitts

A Chillicothe High School thespian has earned a state leadership role. According to English teacher and Theater Director Amanda Betz, CHS junior Danielle Manasco was selected as an Ohio State Thespian Officer for the South Region, representing Thespian Troupe 3170 and Chillicothe High School.

This covers Adams, Athens, Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, and Washington counties, according to Betz.

"It is a big deal," said Betz. "I am so proud that one of our students gets this amazing opportunity to serve as a STO."

She said that State Thespian Officers work with Ohio EdTA activities, the state conference, scholarship programs, and more.

"Their goal is to provide a supportive network of theatre professionals and students alike to help foster a strong and vibrant theatre community in our state," said Betz.

As a 1964 Thespian of the Year award winner (yes 1964) at Wy'East High School, Hood River, Oregon, I commend you for this leadership selection, Danielle. You don't know me, but I know your family roots and they are deep and strong! You will do well if you keep working hard using your skills and talents. God will reward you for your dedication!

Dr. Michael G. May, DMin.
