CHS Wrestling Preview

After sending wrestler Caleb Lake to the state tournament, the wrestling team looks to continue their success this year with a talented young group.

The CHS Wrestling Team has started practicing for their upcoming season, and they hope to find the same success that they had last year. The Cavs wrestlers return 8 lettermen with two of them (Evan Lake and Mike Hicks) having qualified for districts last year, according to Varsity Coach Mike Peck.

"To qualify for state is no easy task, however we have several wrestlers with the potential to make it to the Schottenstein Center in March," said Coach Peck.

The team will be made up of freshmen Klayton Hollis, Drey Lytle, Trustyn Riley, Jeremyah Teurman, and James Whitaker, sophomores Kaimon Allen, Cade Howard, Evan Lake, Oscar Morgan, Wesley Scott, and Caleb Williams, and juniors Trevor Banks, Michael Hicks Jr., and Gage Miller.

"Our team should be solid this season with filling out more of the 14 weight classes than we have in recent seasons," said Coach Peck. "Adding the experience of our grapplers, we should be competitive in FAC duals and other tournaments throughout the season. We hope to grow our number of district qualifiers from 3 last season to 4-6."

Chillicothe starts FAC matches next month.
