Chillicothe boys take second, Beverly wins at SNL Invitational

CENTERVILLE, Ohio — Chillicothe High School’s cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Saturday Night Lights Invitational over the weekend.


The Cavaliers’ boys team finished second overall in the Gold Division, led by senior Jayden Beverly, who placed first out of 187 runners. Beverly completed the 5K course in 16:04.0. Sophomore Levi Wood placed 16th with a time of 17:07.3, followed by senior Grayson Roberts in 20th (17:11.7), senior Tim Kessler was 28th (17:23.9), junior Noah Flores in 36th (17:53.6), junior Payne Huggins in 47th (18:14.2), and freshman Sam Hurff in 52nd (18:18.2).

Chillicothe finished just eight points behind team champion Columbus Grove.


On the girls' side, sophomore Gabby Maranzana led the Lady Cavaliers with a runner-up finish in the long-distance run, clocking in at 19:29.4. Junior Ava Hickman-Beck was the team’s second finisher, placing 95th out of 170 runners in 23:05.2.


Under the leadership of Coach Rob Strong, Chillicothe will return to action Saturday at Circleville High School.
