Coaches' Spotlight: CHS Cheer
Earlier this week, Rocio Morales Corleto interviewed Chillicothe High School Cheer Coaches Desteny Allen and Brittany McDonald!

Question: What is your favorite part about coaching?
Coach Brittany: My favorite part about coaching is getting to see students outside of the typical school setting. I also really enjoy seeing the girls perfect a skill, cheer, or performance.
Coach Desteny: Watching the progress and energy the girls are making.
Question: What is one lesson you hope your athletes remember years from now?
Coach Brittany: Someone may not remember what you said or what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.
Coach Desteny: To not give up when something is not perfect right away; keep getting back up, working hard, and perfection will come.
Question: Who on the team makes you laugh the most?
Coach Brittany: I would say Josie because she is so goofy.
Coach Desteny: Brittany.
Question: What is something people might not know about you?
Coach Brittany: I would say, I’m married to a woman that I love so much. She is the love of my life, so I’m a safe space for all lgbtq students.
Coach Desteny: That I used to be a mermaid.
Question: What is one thing you wish you knew when you first started coaching?
Coach Brittany: I wish I realized there is a fine balance between having fun and being a coach that this program deserves.
Coach Desteny: I wish I knew how to coach a girl through a mental block when that happens,
Question: What is one goal you have for the team this year?
Coach Brittany: I would love to do big stunts and pyramids. We definitely have the potential to make that happen!
Coach Desteny: My goal at the end of this season is that everyone can look back and have a hand full of memories that stay with them for life!
Question: If the team had to compete in a totally different sport, which one would you choose?
Coach Brittany: Artistic swimming.
Coach Desteny: Probably lacrosse.
